In a large mall car park, visitors need to know which zone they are in. On the 2024 project for PT Supermal Karawaci, floor colour does the wayfinding, and each zone has its own.
How is a mall car park coated with a colour per zone? The slab is ground level all over, then self levelling epoxy goes down zone by zone following the mall’s colour plan. At Supermal Karawaci, 2,700 m2 was finished in 15 working days.

Project data
- Client: PT Supermal Karawaci
- Location: Tangerang
- Year: 2024
- Area: 2,700 m2
- Duration: 15 working days
- System: self levelling epoxy (SL)
- Colours: red, green, blue, yellow and grey by zone
The challenge
The concrete was uneven and covered in built-up old residue. A new coat laid straight over a surface like that would not bond properly and would show every undulation beneath it.
Each parking zone also uses its own colour for wayfinding, so the edges between colours had to be clean and match the mall plan.
The approach
The whole surface was ground to remove the old residue and level the slab. Self levelling epoxy then went down zone by colour zone, following the areas the mall had set. Working by zone also meant part of the car park stayed usable while the project ran.

Why colour by zone works
A different colour in each zone helps visitors remember where they parked and helps management direct traffic. Because the colour is in the epoxy itself, not paint on top, it does not wear off quickly under tyres.
